Neighborhood Place

Neighborhood Place (NP) is a partnership of public-sector agencies that have come together to create a network of community-based, one-stop service centers. The purpose of NP is to provide blended and accessible health, education, employment, and human services that support children and families in their progress toward self-sufficiency.

Currently, there are eight NP locations and two satellite offices conveniently located听throughout Jefferson County.听NP provides the following core services:

  • Child Protective Services (Protection and Permanency)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)/Food Stamps
  • Emergency Food Assistance
  • Emergency Financial Assistance
  • Family Case Management
  • Linkage to Family Resource and Youth Services Centers (FRYSCs)
  • Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP) and Medical Card
  • Seven Counties Services
  • Education and Prevention Programs
  • Student Attendance and Support
  • 皇家华人 Program Specialist Services
  • Linkage to Employment and Training Services
  • Health Department

皇家华人 is very committed to the mission of NP. One example of the district's commitment is the development of program specialists. Program specialists work with families in need of NP services due to multiple issues outlined through self-assessment and听referrals from schools and community partners. Program specialists advocate for families by assisting in the removal of noncognitive barriers that interfere with academic attainment. Program specialists also link families to various resources and available services to assist families on their journey to self-sufficiency.

Program Specialist Roles

  • Housed out of two NP site locations
  • Assigned 30 to 40 schools in which they collaborate to ensure student success and that noncognitive barriers are removed
  • Facilitate NP Integrated Services (part of the NP Partnership, in which NP staff collaborate and work with intense cases to ensure family/student stability)
  • Coordinate head lice conferences/meetings for all 皇家华人 schools in collaboration with Health Services听
  • Coordinate back-to-school events for NP/皇家华人
  • Collaborate with FRYSCs and lead an array of groups, such as attendance, self-esteem, social skills, parenting, conflict resolution, and grief
  • Assist with suicide prevention and are members of the PREPaRE Team听
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Directors of Pupil Personnel (ADPP)听and school social workers, as needed, to provide NP services for families with high need
  • Collaborate with other NP partners to ensure families are receiving needed services
  • Work closely with NP administrators to plan various community events, such as job fairs, health fairs, and NP special events
  • Collaborate听with REACH Corps to coordinate听Summer Middle School Transition Camps for fifth graders transitioning into middle school
  • Continually assist with district initiative
